Dr Joel Mortenson
Dr Joel Mortenson’s research interests involve developing testing methods for infectious diseases via clinical research trials. The type of goals his research is aimed towards is to reduce the time it takes to detect infectious diseases as well as improve the sensitivity and specificity of diagnostic testing by applying cutting-edge technologies.
His patient care involves diagnostic testing for infectious diseases. Dr Joel Mortenson was inspired to become a healthcare provider and work with children through a deep personal identification with this particular mission.
Dr Joel Mortenson has more than 30 years of clinical microbiology experience and first joined the team at Cincinnati Children’s in 1991. In collaboration with faculty and fellows at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, he have participated in more than 100 peer-reviewed publications, text chapters and case studies. Their research has been published in numerous respected journals, such as Diagnostic Microbiology and Infectious Disease, Journal of Clinical Microbiology, The Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal, and Pediatric Quality and Safety. With this background, Dr Joel offers consultation services to the healthcare staff in clinical microbiology and guidance in the diagnostic laboratory aims to ensure the highest quality of results for patients.
