We are used to attributing wrinkles, sunspots, grey hairs, and metabolic declines – classic signs of ageing – to the usual lifestyle suspects of UV exposure, poor nutrition, persistent stress, and lack of sleep, but there is something else at play that we are losing site of: Toxin Exposure and Toxic Burden. The human “exposome” is defined as the milieu of toxins to which we are exposed across our lifetime, and this exposome can accelerate biological ageing by influencing internal biological processes that drive a deterioration of human health.
In fact, certain toxins are such significant drivers of ageing that they have been endowed with a specific name: “Gerontogens.” Gerontogens include air pollution (nitrogen dioxide and particulate matter, PM2.5), smoking, mercury, lead, and aluminium, among many others.
Supporting detoxification and clearing gerontogens is the first essential step to healthier ageing and must be the first step in any anti-ageing therapeutic protocol, as toxic burden ultimately blocks these health span initiatives.
In this webinar, Dr Shade will discuss:
- Which toxins make up our internal and external exposome
- How our toxic burden can negatively impact multiple systems of the body including immune, endocrine, cardiovascular, GI, and more
- Common detox myths and explain the difference between a ‘cleanse’ and a formal detoxification program
